This will be my first "blog". I'm not a blogger; I'm not sure what I am really. But as we both figure this out together, these "blogs" should do a decent job of capturing the journey and relaying the message.
We all know social media is how you and I receive most of our information. Most channels of content have found ways to stay relevant and trendy with the changing times. However it seems the sports world is different. The sports world continues to use the same methods and staff that covered the sports world 20 years ago. I love some of the so-called analysts and experts who discuss the sports we love every day, but most haven't picked up a ball in their life or would never say the things they write about to these athletes' faces.
The goal here at Moses Supposes is to change that. As much as the NBA, for example, has improved and sped up, it seems the way it is covered has stayed the same. This has led to the mass hiring of ex-players across all sports to cover their respective fields. While the experience is obviously heard in these players' voices, so is the bias. These players are still human beings, and perhaps the most competitive beings in the world. To say that a large chunk of athletes covering their own sport still hold certain feelings and grudges towards aspects of the game is probably accurate. As much as I love listening to players like Shaq, Chuck and Kenny; I realize that we cannot have only sports' participants covering the sport, there must be a certain balance.
Creating Relevant Content
I'm not saying I plan on turning the sports world upside down, but there are definitely some things that I know can be done better. Let's make it more comedic and more inclusive. People love sports. But people love sports culture even more. We love our favorite athletes for who they are both on and off the field, wether its Michael Jordan playing golf or Khabib wrestling a bear, we have become infatuated with our idols' lifestyle.
Here at Moses Supposes, we want to capture that same feeling. Not only will we publish more blogs frequently on this website, we will continue to upload comedic skits and polarizing takes on Instagram, Twitter and Youtube,
We will also begin a podcast that will find its course over time. I will not hold a limit to myself on the balance between sports and culture. Some conversations will be about LeBron vs MJ, and others about M&Ms vs Skittles (peanut m&ms all day). See, I don't think sports talk needs to be washed down by suits and ties when most sports are played in shorts and tennis shoes.
For as fun as sports are, hearing people talk about them can be quite the opposite. It doesn't have to be that way. When you remove ego, posturing and point-making, you're left just trying to laugh and have a good time talking about the players and sports you love most.
